"FALCON DEMONSTRATION A SUCCESS"

27 November 1996

Thales Systems Canada Inc. (Thales Systems) is pleased to announce that successful trials and demonstration of the FALCON Minefield Breaching System were completed on November 23, 1990 before a military and scientific audience at the Defence Research Establishment near Suffield (DRES) Alberta. FALCON is the Fuel-Air Line Charge Ordnance Neutralizer developed by Thales Systems for the Department of National Defence (DND) and the latest trials clearly proved FALCON’s ability to clear a 14 metre wide safe lane through a 200 metre long minefield.

FALCON represents significant advances in the state-of-the-art of minefield breaching systems and Thales Systems has negotiated the World Marketing Rights to the FALCON technology. Several countries have expressed interest in purchasing FALCON systems and Thales Systems expects that DND will also procure several of the FALCON systems to augment their capabilities in minefield clearance.

Thales Systems, a Systems Engineering Management Company which designs, develops, delivers, and supports defence and aerospace systems, is based in Ottawa, Ontario. The Company’s main products include Mission Systems, Training Systems, and Mine Clearing Systems.
