Thales Systems Canada, a division of Thales Canada Inc., has been doing system integration business in Canada since 1984. Over this period, we have developed progressively and matured into a competent, full-service company, providing systems, software and logistics engineering services. We have achieved consistent organic growth from our ever-broadening customer base, which is now distributed between domestic and international markets in defence and non-defence sectors.

Thales Systems Canada has three main business areas. These are:

Radio Communications Systems. Thales Systems Canada has successfully delivered or is delivering communications systems to all military domains (Army, Navy, Air Force). Examples of recent work include: Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS), a High Frequency Voice and Link-11 Data System covering the Northern Regions of North America, a Mobile HF Voice and data communications System to support Canadian Peacekeeping missions, a civil aviation HF communication system for Trinidad & Tobago, and airborne communications management system (CP140 Aurora).

We have also developed several communication products (e.g., message handling system, STANAG 5066 / HF E-mail software, and ARQ software). These products are in use by several navies around the world, and are now being adapted for use on the Tiger helicopter in Australia.

Mission Systems and Sensor Integration. A further strength of Thales Systems Canada is the mission systems and sensor integration capability. We provided the Mission Systems for the 12 Canadian Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels, and developed the Tracking and Management Unit and the Data Processor for the World's newest and most advanced Active Phased Array Radar and InfraRed Surveillance systems for combat ships. With an ever-increasing emphasis on security and Homeland Defence, our latest product is the "Commander" data exchange/gateway system that provides situational awareness at low cost to Coast Guards, Police, and Navies.

C4ISR Systems. An emerging market for Thales Systems Canada is C4ISR systems. These systems provide timely information to allow those in command to make informed decisions. We are currently evolving Command and Control systems for the Canadian Army that digitize and display information and messages for Combat, Peacekeeping and Emergency operations. We are also working on next-generation Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) and Joint Strategic Picture through ISTAR, COP 21, and other programs.
